What is a Widescreen?
Widescreen refers to the width of the screen in contrast with its height. This is also known as the aspect ratio. A traditional TV may be rather square in shape, and that is because the width is similar (or almost) to the height. The aspect ratio of the traditional TV is 1:1. A widescreen on the other hand, has a wider screen compared to its height. The ratio of a widescreen TV is 16:9, which makes the TV obviously rectangular in shape. This improves a user's experience and transfers information more accurately to the user.
